October Newsletter

Hi Ladies,

Ok so my track record this year has not been so great with the September newsletter not going out but I do plan on trying to be more consistent with future newsletters! Having said this it is only the 25th September and I am already working on the October newsletter – how organized is that!

As you all know the fundraiser was done back in July and I am so pleased to tell you that we raised a total of $558.00

We are planning on giving a $500.00 cash donation to the hospital and using the remaining $58.00 to purchase products to make cards kits up for the children to do at home while they recuperate from their hospital stay.

A huge thank you to all the ladies that attended the day and those who purchased raffle tickets to support this fundraising effort.

Try it Tuesday - Faux Tin Tiles

Equipment:

Big Shot, Multipurpose platform, two cutting mats, an embossing folder, cardstock, aluminium foil and adhesive.
Sandwich:

Multipurpose platform opened to tab 1, one clear cutting mat, embossing folder with cardstock placed in the middle and one cutting mat.

If the embossing folder has an intricate or busy pattern you may choose to open the multipurpose platform to no tabs so the embossing does not cut too deeply into the cardstock.

Steps:

Adhere the aluminium foil onto the cardstock, cut the foil about 1cm larger than the cardstock.

Emboss the cardstock as usual.

Trim the extra foil from around the cardstock or fold under and secure with sticky tape.

Cut the embossed cardstock in half. Adhere these two pieces onto a second piece of cardstock that is slightly larger. Leave a small gap between each square – this will look like the grout.

Try it Tuesday - Acetate and Tissue

The products needed to complete this technique are: Acetate sheet, white tissue paper, crystal effects and ink refill.

Step One: Place some crystal effects on the acetate sheet.

Step Two: Add some drops of ink refill onto the acetate sheet and crystal effects.

Step Three: Mix the crystal effects and ink refill together in a circular motion. I recommend using rubber gloves as this gets very messy.

Step Four: Scrunch up the tissue paper.

Step five: Place the tissue paper over the acetate sheet and carefully pat down. You need to try and keep the wrinkles in it.

Step Six: Allow to dry completely before completing your project.

Try It Tuesday - make your own DSP

This technique is fantastic if you don't have the perfect Designer Series Paper in your stash to make a project. This technique can be used for all of your paper craft projects and only takes a few minutes to do.
The products you will need are: Cardstock (I used crumb cake), ink pads (Crumb cake, old olive and real red used here), stamp sets and a stamping sponge.

Step One: Ink up your background stamp with the crumb cake ink, place the cardstock on top and rub your hands over the cardstock - you may like to place a scrap of paper over the top to avoid getting ink on your hands.

Step Two: Stamp the images at random over the cardstock. I used all three colours and four different stamps to create the background. The have all over lapped and you don't need to worry too much about stamp placement. The idea is to try and fill in as much of the background as possible.

Step Three: Sponge the edges using a stamping sponge.

Here is the finished product. To save time you can stamp a whole A4 or 12 x 12 sheet of cardstock to cut up and use. Any stamp sets and colour combinations can be used.

I will complete the project and upload the photo later.

Try it Tuesday - Distressing cardstock

Products needed: Cardstock, inks, distressing tool, stamp sets, stamping sponge - please refer to the full list of products at the bottom of this post.

Step One: Ink the back ground stamp set (I used Hardwood from the occasions catalogue) in Crumb Cake ink. Place the crumb cake cardstock on top of the stamp and place a scrap piece of paper over the top and rub.
Please note that when using a large stamp it is easiest to leave the stamp on the table and place everything on top of it. Use the scrap of copy paper to avoid getting too much ink on your hands.

Step Two: Scrunch the stamped cardstock up. Scrunch in different ways - the cardstock will become softer as the fibres start to break down. Don't worry if you tear the cardstock slightly it will add to the distressed look.

Step Three: Open the cardstock slightly and ink directly onto the creases with the ink pads. I used Night of Navy and Cajun Craze ink.

Step Four: Use the distressing tool around all the edges to fluff them up a bit more and add a few more small tears with the tool.

Step Five: Ink the edges of the cardstock. I used Cajun Craze ink.

Step: Six: Adhere the distressed cardstock onto a cardstock mat. I ran my finger nail around all the edges of the distressed cardstock to fluff them up and make the small tears stand out a little bit more.

Step Seven: Complete the card as desired.

Products Used:

Very Vanilla A4 (#106550)
Night of Navy A4 (#106577)
Crumb Cake A4 (#121685)

Try it Tuesday - Shaving Foam Technique

The supplies that you will need to complete this technique are: shaving foam, ink refills (I used Blushing Bride, Pear Pizzazz and Early Espresso), a clean tray (I used a washed meat tray), Whisper White cardstock, an icy-pole stick and paper towel.
Other porducts include: Black StazOn, an aqua painter, stamp set, cardstock and embellishments, big shot and circle collection framelit dies.

Step one: Spray some shaving foam into the tray and level it out using an icy-pole stick.

Step Two: Add a few drops of each ink refill onto the shaving foam.

Step Three: Use the icy-pole stick to swirl the ink around a little bit.

Set Four: Place the cardstock onto the tray and press down until the shaving foam oozes out of the sides of the cardstock.

Step Five: Lift the cardstock out.

Step Six: Using the paper towel rub the shaving foam off the cardstock in a circular motion. The cardstock will curl up a little bit but will flatten again as it dies. Allow the cardstock to dry fore using on your project.

Step Seven: Stamp your image onto white cardstock in StazOn ink. The stamp set I used was So Very Grateful (#133053) from the occasions catalogue.

Step Eight: Colour the image using ink refills and an aqua painter.

Step Nine: Using the big shot and circle framelits cut out one circle. I used pear pizzazz cardstock.

To finish off my project: I fussy cut the flower image and stamped Thank You onto the circle using black StazOn.
I placed two lines of Blushing Bride ribbon onto the white cardstock and adhered the bow using a glue dot.
I placed dimentionals under the circle to adhere it to the front of the card.
I finished off by adding basic rhinestone in two corners.
